I have to say I love social networking. I have a myspace and facebook account. I enjoy both but I have to say after facebook was introduced to me that is my social network. Facebook is actually the only one I update and use on a day to day basis. Facebook has a lot of useful links and tools. I think it is important for educators to know about social networking because most parents will have a social network that they check regularly. Especially since it sends updates now through your cell phone in a text message. As an educator it would be a great way to communicate with parents, students, and other teachers to keep them updated on upcoming events. I enjoy pretty much everything about these sites.
I agree that most parents will eventually have some sort of social networking. It is scary to a certain extent. It seems like such a "young thing" to do. I can see a day when all of us will be old and gray, still using facebook, while the next generation will have some sort of new and exciting social network-probably involving holographics!
